Serbia leader in strawberry export

Strawberries are most beneficial for health. they can be produced in every garden but farmers from villages in the vicinity of leskovac and šabac and other regions of serbia are to be given credit for the production and export success of serbia.

The export of strawberries from Serbia increased from 1.8 million Euros in 2010 to 8.7 million Euros in 2014. In just four years the export increased by 4.7 times. This number is 2.5 times higher than the combined number of all neighbouring countries, which is 3.5 million Euros. In 2010 all these countries combined had only 46% of the export value of Serbia.

Serbia ranks 19th in the world in terms of strawberry export. If we look at our neighbouring countries, Serbia is followed by Bulgaria which ranks 26th (2.8 million Euros) followed by Croatia (38th with 414,000 Euros), Hungary (52nd with 178,000 Euros), Bosnia and Herzegovina (63rd with 32,000 Euros), Romania (65th with 23,000 Euros), Montenegro (75th with 6,000 Euros), and Macedonia (76th with 5,000 Euros). Albania did not export any strawberries. Thus Serbia's export value was 2.5 times higher than all these countries combined.

In 2014, strawberries were mostly exported to Russia (7.8 million Euros), Belarus (347,000 Euros), Romania (153,000 Euros), and Montenegro (145,000 Euros).

In 2014 around 7,245 tons of strawberries were sent abroad, which is five times more than in 2010 (1,460 tons).

The average export price dropped from 1,262 Euros per ton to 1,195 Euros per ton in 2014.
